How JoshProvides Can Help Your Child who is Experiencing Seizures

The mission statement of JoshProvides is to improve the quality of life for those living with epilepsy or other seizure disorders. Here are ways JoshProvides specifically can offer HELP and HOPE to your family:

Epilepsy Support Group

Individuals and families living with epilepsy or other seizure disorders oftentimes feel socially isolated due to the stigma associated with this neurological disorder. The support group provides a community connection for individuals, families and caregivers and features local resources, speakers and an opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions and offer each other emotional comfort. JoshProvides offers a monthly Epilepsy Support Group on the first Tuesday of the month at State College of Florida, Lakewood Ranch Campus. Funding for the support group is provided by the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund of Manatee Community Foundation. A grant from the Arthur T. Esslinger Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County provides funding for ITN Transportation to and from the monthly support group for individuals who cannot drive due to seizures. For information about the Epilepsy Support Group, contact us at 800-706-2740 or by email at:

Medical Services

JoshProvides helps with the cost of a neurology appointment or seizure-related treatment that is recommended by the patient’s medical doctor and not covered by private medical insurance, other reimbursement plans, or government-funded programs. Our application for Medical Services is available on our website at

Seizure Alert  & Detection Devices
Seizure alert & detection devices can assist in detecting when a seizure is occurring and will issue an alert to parents, friends, or caregivers. Consult your neurologist and research available devices. Our application for Seizure Alert & Detection Devices is available on our website at

Seizure Response Dog
Seizure response dogs can be wonderful service dogs for people living with epilepsy. If properly trained, dogs can alert an individual when a seizure is occurring, lay between the floor and the person having a seizure to protect them from injury, get help and signal their owner to get into a safe position before the seizure occurs. The process of securing a seizure response dog is both long and expensive and families must do due diligence in selecting a breeder and trainer. Information about seeking a grant for a Seizure Response Dog is attached. It is important to read this information sheet before you apply for a grant for a Seizure Response Dog. Our application for a Seizure Response Dog is available on our website at

Transportation & Travel
Adults experiencing seizures are prohibited from driving until they are six-months seizure free. This limitation can directly impact an individual’s ability to go to work, attend school or get to medical appointments. JoshProvides helps with transportation through bus passes, access to paratransit services, LYFT and UBER gift cards. Transportation assistance will also be considered for medical treatment/diagnosis. Our application for Transportation & Travel is available on our website at
